Pim – Pom – Pam
The work of Los Angeles/Belgian -based artist Philippe Stella is informed by spontaneity and an intuitive feeling for all that is false or hypocritical.
This urge to tell in images what he can’t/won’t in words is his driving force, or as Philippe might put it;
“Don’t f-king read this, LOOK at what I’m telling you!
Even his manner of drawing and applying color has more in common with an instinctive doodle than with anything deliberately abstract.
Because of this, his work has shown distinct links to the primitive, child-like style.
Stella spent much of his youth in the Spanish Cadaques where not only did he come to love the natural beauty but it was there he absorbed for the first the work of resident artists.
